Land Acknowledgement

I acknowledge with gratitude that Toronto (or T’karonto) is the traditional territory of many nations including the Mississaugas of the Credit, the Anishinaabe, the Chippewa, the Haudenosaunee Confederacy and the Wendat peoples. It is the home to many First Nations, Inuit and Métis peoples.

I also recognize that Toronto is covered by the Dish with One Spoon treaty. This treaty bound the Anishinaabe, Mississaugas and Haudenosaunee Confederacy to share the territory and collectively protect the land. Subsequent Indigenous Nations and Peoples, Europeans and all newcomers have been invited into this treaty in the spirit of peace, friendship and respect. I strive to uphold these values and practices as well as the shared responsibility to the land and its people.
